Bulls’ DeMar DeRozan Breaks Silence On Free Agency Plans
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

DeMar DeRozan‘s future with the Chicago Bulls has been a topic of speculation for quite some time, but the veteran NBA scorer is making it clear he wants to stay put.

In a recent interview, DeRozan expressed his desire to remain in Chicago and continue his journey with the Bulls, citing the city’s great atmosphere and the organization’s support as key factors in his decision.

“The city is great, I love the city, the organization been great,” DeRozan said. “It’s definitely a place I would love to return to, and take care of unfinished business.”

The Bulls have been on the cusp of significant changes for several seasons, and DeRozan’s impending free agency has only added to the uncertainty. However, his commitment to the team is a welcome development for a franchise that has struggled to find consistency in recent years.

Just a few seasons ago, the Bulls were among the most exciting teams in the Eastern Conference. Still, evolving teams and debilitating injuries have hindered their progress. This season, they finished ninth in the East and missed the playoffs.

Despite fans’ pleas for significant roster changes, the Bulls have been relatively inactive recently. DeRozan has been mentioned as a potential trade asset throughout recent years of his career, but has stayed in Chicago.

If DeRozan does choose to stay with the Bulls, the team may attempt to build a stronger roster around him this summer. The Bulls must decide how worthwhile it is to invest significant assets into their current core that doesn’t quite stack up with the league’s best.

For the Bulls, they could trade DeRozan at a later time if the current core doesn’t achieve greater success after he re-signs to stay.
